WPS (World Programming System) provides data analysis using the SAS language. Use your exisiting SAS code without software from the SAS institute. Run MXG with WPS. Request a free evaluation of WPS. World Programming Limited, also known as the World Programming Company (WPC) develop the World Programming System (WPS), a SAS alternative.

On the Windows and UNIX platform, migration is relatively straight-forward. It is often just a case of getting familiar with using WPS from a command line or via the GUI (Windows platform only) and then importing your existing SAS programs.
On the Mainframe (z/OS) platform, migration can still be straight-forward but often subject to issues such as ensuring the user environment is set up correctly, or working within the constraints of a site's change control policy.
Migration typically involves the steps outlined in the table below.
| Pre-Migration Steps | |
|---|---|
| Static Analysis | Use the WPS code analyser to determine if any existing SAS programs contain language elements or options that are not yet supported by WPS. |
| Review Present SAS Usage | From the static analysis, we can help you determine the steps needed to undertake a migration. |
| Migration Steps | |
|---|---|
| SAS Program Changes | For the majority of programs written with Base SAS only there may be no changes needed. If modifications are required, the code analyser will identify the language elements concerned. |
| Migrate Data | On Windows, WPS can read and write native data libraries (e.g. sas7bdat files) directly.
On z/OS, SAS DASD-based data libraries will need to be migrated via SAS TAPE-based libraries to WPS's own data library format. |
| Post-Migration Steps | |
|---|---|
| Verification | For peace of mind, run the SAS system and WPS in parallel for a short period so that you can compare and verify the output between the two systems. |
We provide a migration guide for z/OS users to help you move from the SAS System to WPS.
