WPS has a built-in code analyser tool that can scan existing scripts to check compatibility with the language support implemented by WPS. The code analyser is a built in feature of the WPS Workbench. When scripts are scanned, analysis reports are generated that help to indicate if they may be run unchanged in WPS, or whether work-arounds may be required.
Analysis Report Features
Here are some of the features of an analysis report:
- Identify the occurrence of unsupported language elements.
- Identify the used language element type (e.g. Procedure, Format, Global Option, etc).
- Automatically open a script at the exact line where an unsupported language element is located.
- Export analysis reports to Microsoft® Excel spreadsheets.
Mainframe Users
The code analyser is a built in feature of the WPS Workbench which is currently not available for use on Mainframe z/OS. However, if scripts are copied from a Mainframe to a computer where WPS Workbench is installed, the code analyser is able to analyse and report on all language elements of the transferred scripts.
