Your logical CPU count is not just the number of cores or physical processors you have installed. Hyper-threading and multi core processors all have an impact on your CPU count. For example, a dual core processor on a machine with hyper-threading enabled is a logical CPU count of 4 and with no hyper-threading is a logical CPU count of 2.

To determine your logical CPU count:

  1. Right mouse click on the task bar at the bottom of the screen.
  2. You should see a pop up menu. Select the Task Manager option.
  3. Click on the Performance Tab.
  4. Your logical CPU count is the number of CPU Usage History graphs displayed.
