World Programming is a private limited company, also known as World Programming Company (WPC), operating from offices in the UK and servicing clients worldwide. The company develops and distributes a software product called WPS for management, processing, reporting and analysis of data in the language of SAS.
Formed in 2000, the Company first began offering a product called ORA, a web-based reporting, data distribution and business intelligence system. ORA proved successful in fulfilling its end-user requirements, but there was frequently a need for manipulation and pre-processing of data before being published by ORA.
In 2002 the Company decided to develop a product to meet the pre-processing requirements of ORA. Recognising that many clients were already familiar with the language of SAS, the development of WPS was started to provide similar capabilities.
Although originally conceived to meet the needs of the ORA data pre-processing requirements, customers started to ask for WPS to be provided as a stand-alone product. By the end of 2003, WPS for Windows was launched.
During 2003 and 2004 the Company worked with selected customers to develop and test the WPS product line and by mid 2004 a z/OS Mainframe version of WPS was released.
In 2007, the Company was the first provider to release a SAS execution environment on the Windows Vista platform.
WPS is currently in production at z/OS Mainframe sites around the world and the Windows version of WPS has many hundreds of users, both workstation and server.
The use of WPS on UNIX platforms is steadily growing in popularity since the launch of the beta program in October 2008.
WPS customers include government agencies, public and private companies, individual users, consultants and students.
The Company will continue to maintain, enhance and expand its core product, WPS.
World Programming is committed to expanding the language support available in WPS and is actively developing new WPS-based products and solutions for the worldwide SAS market.
